Central Utah Agri-Park Project Area Expands to Accelerate Agricultural Growth Across Central Utah

The Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) Board approved an amendment to the Central Utah Agri-Park Project Area Plan, adding approximately 2,300 acres northwest of Nephi to strengthen Utah’s agricultural processing and logistics capacity.

The newly added property—purchased by the R6 Regional Council and neighboring privately-owned parcels—will form the Agri-Park Zone, anchoring future infrastructure, utilities, and business development to support Utah’s farm-to-market supply chain. The original Agri-Park Zone has been renamed the Juab Valley Zone to reflect this realignment.

“The expansion of the Agri-Park represents a major step toward creating the infrastructure Utah’s farmers need to stay competitive,” said Danny Stewart, Associate Vice President of Regional Project Area Development with the Utah Inland Port Authority. “By collaborating with our six partner counties, we’re building a hub that supports processing, storage, and transportation solutions right where agricultural production is strongest.”

Developed in partnership with Juab County and the R6 Regional Council—representing Sanpete, Juab, Wayne, Millard, Piute, and Sevier counties—the Agri-Park serves as a statewide model for rural collaboration. The site is strategically positioned near Interstate 15 and Union Pacific’s Sharp Subdivision, offering both highway and rail connectivity.

The amendment will ensure room for utilities, road extensions, and rail access to support facilities such as protein and crop processing plants, cold storage, and agricultural technology operations. It also aligns with UIPA’s mission to strengthen rural economies, create high-quality jobs, and modernize Utah’s logistics network.

“This project gives our local producers a chance to grow and process their goods closer to home, keeping jobs and investment in central Utah,” said Shaun Kjar, Central Utah Agri-Park Director.

The Central Utah Agri-Park is envisioned as a long-term economic engine, connecting Utah’s agricultural base with national and international markets. With the board’s approval of this amendment, site preparation and recruitment efforts can advance in coordination with the R6 Regional Council and Juab County.
