UIPA Board Approves Amendment to Skyline Corridor Project Area

One December 9, the Utah Inland Port Authority Board  approved an amendment adding roughly 250 acres to the Skyline Corridor Project Area, strengthening opportunities for manufacturing, warehousing, and economic growth across Ephraim, Gunnison, and Wayne County.

The amendment incorporates additional land in Ephraim Crossing, expanding the area eligible for infrastructure planning and development to support the city’s growing light- and medium-manufacturing sector.

“We continue to see strong interest from businesses across the Skyline Corridor, and this amendment helps communities prepare for that growth,” said Jenna Draper, associate vice president of regional development with UIPA. “By expanding areas already positioned for development, we’re supporting local employers and improving long-term economic opportunities for Central Utah.”

In Gunnison City, the expansion brings in land purchased by two manufacturers planning to develop new warehousing and production space. The amendment also includes portions of SITLA property connected to the city’s industrial park, supporting coordinated efforts to enhance the site for future business recruitment.

“We have employers ready to invest and expand, and this gives us the framework to move those projects forward,” said Dennis Marker, Gunnison City Administrator. “Partnering with UIPA and SITLA helps us build the infrastructure and momentum needed to strengthen our local economy.”

The amendment also adds 44 acres in Wayne County within the area’s existing industrial footprint. County leaders plan to focus early investment in service-ready locations where utilities are already available, enabling current businesses to grow while long-term development continues near the airport.

“These updates are about aligning investment with community needs,” Draper said. “As these businesses expand, the Skyline Corridor continues to evolve as a regional hub for manufacturing and rural economic opportunity.”

The amendment builds on previous updates that extended participation to additional central Utah communities, advancing the project area’s goal of supporting coordinated development across the region.
