Salt Lake City, Utah—Today, the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) presented a proposed amendment to the Castle Country Project Area during its board meeting. This amendment includes the addition of 10,754.31 acres, bringing the total project area to 12,657.03 acres. It also updates budget projections, legal descriptions, and incorporates enhanced environmental reviews.
The expansion aims to leverage underutilized infrastructure within the Castle Country Economic Region, focusing on industries such as advanced manufacturing and sustainable energy solutions. By integrating these additional parcels, the project reinforces UIPA’s mission to drive regional economic development and create high-wage job opportunities in Carbon and Emery Counties.
“This amendment represents a significant step forward in maximizing the potential of the Castle Country Project Area,” said Jenna Draper, Associate Vice President of Regional Project Area Development. “By expanding the area, we’re not only supporting sustainable growth but also creating meaningful opportunities for local communities.”
The amendment will undergo a second review by the UIPA board in January 2025 for final approval. If approved, the expanded project area will utilize property tax incentives to attract new investments, bolster regional infrastructure, and stimulate long-term economic growth in this historically underserved region.
