Salt Lake City, Utah—Today, the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) presented a proposed amendment to the Mineral Mountains Project Area during its board meeting, marking a step toward advancing economic development in Beaver County. The amendment focuses on expanding the project area to include additional properties in the Milford Flats Zone, specifically targeting geothermal energy development.
The amendment aims to bolster Beaver County’s renewable energy capacity, with geothermal resources serving as a critical component of the region’s sustainable growth strategy. This effort aligns with UIPA’s mission to support high-wage job creation and infrastructure investments in rural Utah.
“Our goal is to drive long-term, sustainable economic growth in Beaver County,” said Danny Stewart, Associate Vice President of Regional Project Area Development. “This amendment will enable us to harness local resources and create meaningful opportunities for the community.”
The amendment will undergo a second review by the UIPA board in December for final approval. If approved, the expanded project area will leverage property tax incentives to attract new investment and support regional infrastructure improvements.
