This month, UIPA welcomed Diana Martinez as the new Co-Facilitator for the Clean Ports Program. Diana will work part-time with Clean Ports Program staff to plan for and support the bimonthly Near-Port Community Steering Committee meetings. She will play a key role in ensuring that community feedback is incorporated into Clean Ports Program activities and that the public stays updated on key program findings and developments.
Diana brings a wealth of experience in community engagement, cross-sector partnerships, and program implementation. She currently serves as the Community Outreach Liaison at the PROG Development Center in West Valley City, where she coordinates communications and events, as well as leading youth and young adult outreach programs. Since 2021, Diana has also worked at the American Finance Association to support their annual conference and membership database.
Diana holds a Bachelor of Science in Marketing from the University of Utah. A lifelong Utah resident, she has been involved in many community-based projects, most recently serving on a resident committee that is helping to guide the University of Utah’s planned Eccles Health Campus and Hospital in West Valley City (slated to open in 2028). In her spare time, Diana enjoys running and is currently training for three half marathons this year. Her family is from Oaxaca, and she enjoys sharing her culture and food with others. Diana is also grateful to speak Spanish fluently, which helps her connect with and serve diverse communities.
