Utah’s Division of Air Quality (DAQ) has opened applications for its Clean Ports funding, an incentive program that can cover up to 90% of the cost to transition to Zero-Emission (ZE) trucks and cargo-handling equipment at the Salt Lake City Intermodal Terminal (SLCIT).
As DAQ Clean Ports Program Manager Amariah Gibbs explained in a recent Q&A posted to UIPA’s website, this program will provide incentives to upgrade eligible fleets and equipment with the latest ZE technology. Funding is available for electric trucks, cargo handling equipment, charging infrastructure, and workforce training for operators that service or operate at the Salt Lake City Intermodal Terminal (SLCIT). “This is the highest incentive DAQ has ever been able to offer for electrification, making it an unprecedented opportunity for local operators,” said Amariah.
The process starts with a simple, no-obligation pre-application. From there, DAQ will guide applicants through the process.
