UIPA Approves Amendment to Mineral Mountains Project Area, Advancing Geothermal Energy Development in Beaver County

Salt Lake City, Utah—On December 11, the Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) Board approved an amendment to the Mineral Mountains Project Area during its board meeting. This marks a significant milestone in refining economic development and renewable energy initiatives in Beaver County.

The amendment adjusts the project area boundaries, slightly contracting its overall size from approximately 25,435 acres to 25,388 acres. This modification focuses on cleaning up the boundaries—adding properties in key locations while removing others—to better align with community needs and support future development.

“This amendment represents a thoughtful step forward for Beaver County,” said Danny Stewart, Associate Vice President of Regional Project Area Development. “By fine-tuning the project area, we’re better positioned to leverage local resources, create high-wage jobs, and invest in meaningful infrastructure improvements that benefit the community.”

The refined project area continues to prioritize geothermal energy development in the Milford Flats Zone, underscoring the county’s commitment to renewable energy. UIPA’s efforts aim to bolster Beaver County’s renewable energy capacity while promoting sustainable growth and long-term economic resilience.

Through strategic property tax incentives and targeted infrastructure improvements, the Mineral Mountains Project Area remains a cornerstone of UIPA’s mission to enhance rural Utah’s economic opportunities through innovative, community-centered development.
