About PortSLC

What PortSLC can do for your project

PortSLC is a state designated project area. That changes what can be done for a project, how quickly infrastructure moves, and who stays accountable from the first conversation through construction.

What makes PortSLC different

A private developer can sell land.
PortSLC can move on infrastructure, coordination, and timeline.

Infrastructure funding

Public infrastructure inside the project area can be funded and delivered here. Roads, rail spurs, and utility extensions are not entirely a private cost.

Utility coordination

We bring the utility providers to the table, so capacity and timeline answers come straight from the source.

Municipal coordination

Local jurisdictions, the state, and our team are aligned before you call, so you are not reconciling three different answers to the same question.

One accountable team

One team owns your project from the first call through site selection, infrastructure, and state programs. No handoffs, no chasing answers.

Growth already underway

Northrop Grumman, Motorola Solutions, and Stadler Rail have all expanded in the area recently, adding new facilities and hundreds of jobs. See the projects

Public accountability

A public board governs PortSLC. Commitments made here are on the record, which is a different level of exposure than a private counterparty carries.

Boeing, Northrop Grumman, and many other manufacturers already operate in the area. See who builds here

Rail, air, and two interstates on one industrial footprint.

What we bring to the table

Relationships and programs already in place. Your project draws on them from day one.

  • State programs

Utah's economic development and custom training programs, coordinated with your project from day one.

  • Foreign Trade Zone 30

The Salt Lake area sits in Foreign Trade Zone 30, which can defer or reduce duties on imported inputs for qualifying operations.

  • Rail and air partners

Both Class I railroads and Salt Lake City International Airport, ten minutes from the sites.

  • Workforce pipeline

Westpointe Workforce Training and Education Center, three R1 research universities, and state funded custom training.

  • Industry partners

edcUTAH, World Trade Center Utah, 47G, the Utah Manufacturers Association, BioUtah, and BioHive.

Who you work with

One accountable team, and one person to call.
