Here are the NWQ incentives that are helping businesses achieve strategic and sustainable development goals:

Authority Act

In Utah, the Authority Act facilitates the use of tax differential in specific project areas, guided by local statutes and the Project Area Master Plan. This includes funding for affordable housing, development of land and intermodal facilities, public infrastructure, and environmentally friendly construction.

Authority Infrastructure Bank (AIB)

The Utah Inland Port Authority enhances project areas through the Authority Infrastructure Bank (AIB), focusing on projects that generate revenue and serve the public interest, aligning with long-term economic growth objectives.

An interlocal agreement with the City of Salt Lake City is providing big opportunities

The UIPA works in partnership with the city of Salt Lake City, ensuring that the City’s 2016 Master Plan is encompassed within the UIPA’s vision for the jurisdictional area. In October 2022, UIPA entered into an interlocal agreement with Salt Lake City, specifically noting that UIPA will allocate 40% of the property tax revenue generated in Salt Lake City to environmental and community mitigation projects within its jurisdiction.

Here are the terms of the agreement:

Sustainability Funds

UIPA will collaborate with the Salt Lake City to allocate funds for Environmental and Community Mitigation.

Affordable Housing

The Redevelopment Agency (RDA) is obligated to invest 10% of property tax income from exempt areas into affordable housing.

Streamlined Processes

Salt Lake City commits to streamline land use application processes on UIPA's jurisdictional land by designating a dedicated full-time employee to serve as the primary contact for these applications.

Copper Crossing

Big-D has constructed multiple warehouses at the Copper Crossing industrial park.
