Utah Inland Port Authority Welcomes Moss, Freedman to Board

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — The Utah Inland Port Authority announced the appointment of Jefferson Moss, Associate Commissioner of Innovation with the Utah the Utah System of Higher Education and majority leader of the Utah House of Representatives, alongside Jonathan Freedman, CEO of the World Trade Center Utah, to its board during the January board meeting.

In the same session, Abby Osborne, Chief of Staff for the Utah House of Representatives, was designated as the new UIPA Board Chair, with Ryan Starks, Executive Director for the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Opportunity, stepping into the role of Vice Chair.

“The combined expertise of Moss and Freedman fortifies UIPA’s mission,” Osborne said. “Their inclusion amplifies our dedication to fostering sustainable economic growth that positively impacts our state.”

Jonathan Freedman’s entrepreneurial spirit was evident early on when he co-established Downeast Outfitters. His leadership steered the company’s growth to 64 locations across seven western states, culminating in its acquisition by Malouf Companies in 2020. Beyond domestic success, Freedman’s acumen extended globally, managing intricate sourcing and production operations across nations like China, India, and Mexico.

“I am deeply committed to leveraging my experiences to propel Utah’s industries forward within UIPA’s framework,” Freedman said.

Jefferson Moss brings a rich tapestry of expertise to the board, blending economic development, venture capital, and public service. His pivotal role as The Point’s Innovation District Project Director and academic accolades from Brigham Young University spotlight his unwavering dedication to pioneering innovation and strategic economic growth. Moss’s entrepreneurial endeavors further amplify his potential contributions to UIPA.
