Lakeshore Learning Honored with One Utah Summit’s Rural Investor Award for Transformative Impact in Garland, Utah

SALT LAKE CITY — Lakeshore Learning, a leading developer of educational materials, has been awarded the Rural Investor Award at the One Utah Summit for its significant contribution to rural economic development. The honor follows the company’s decision to establish a new 400,000-square-foot distribution center in Garland, Utah, a project expected to create hundreds of jobs and enhance local infrastructure.

“It’s an honor to be able to recognize the incredible efforts of Lakeshore Learning and what they’re doing here in the state of Utah. This company checks all of the boxes—rural outreach, huge capital investments, supporting our educators, and doing everything right,” said Ben Hart, executive director with the Utah Inland Port Authority.

The new distribution center not only serves as a key driver for local employment but also strengthens Utah’s logistics capabilities, further positioning the state as a hub for economic growth. The project exemplifies Lakeshore Learning’s commitment to fostering growth in rural communities.

“We’ve been so inspired not just by the work ethic and skills of the folks in the greater Garland area, but by their kindness and community spirit,” said Charles Best, CEO of Lakeshore Learning. “It’s made us feel so lucky that we chose rural Utah and Garland specifically to create this incredible distribution center for Lakeshore Learning.”

The company’s investment in Garland has set a precedent for future investments in Utah’s rural areas, helping to create long-term economic sustainability and inspire other companies to explore the opportunities that rural Utah offers.
