Tooele Valley

The Tooele Valley Project Area is a development in northern Tooele County.

The project area totals 584 acres and is located within the boundaries of Tooele County. The project area is connected via Burmester Road and Interstate 80. Adjacency to rail and I-80 create a unique opportunity for industrial growth.

Milestones

On April 11, 2023, the Tooele County Council formally passed a resolution, consenting to and requesting the establishment of a UIPA Project Area within the boundaries of Tooele County.

In 2024, the Surface Transportation Board approved Savage Tooele Railroad Company to build and operate an 11-mile rail line in Tooele County connecting Lakeview Business Park in Grantsville to Union Pacific’s mainline, with projected benefits including the avoidance of up to 30,000 truck trips annually by year seven. In 2025, the Savage Tooele Railroad opened as Utah’s first new short-line railroad in more than a century, supported by a $10 million loan from UIPA’s Authority Infrastructure Bank and providing the Tooele Valley and Twenty Wells project areas with direct, efficient access to the national rail network.
