SALT LAKE CITY — The Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) Board today approved an amended project area plan for the Skyline Corridor, an initiative aimed at bolstering economic growth across Sanpete, Sevier, and Wayne counties. The plan, initially introduced during UIPA’s January 6 board meeting, includes expanded project boundaries to accommodate critical housing and business development in Salina and Manti.
The Skyline Corridor Project Area, first approved in October 2024, is designed to foster economic diversification, create high-quality jobs, and attract private investment through enhanced infrastructure and community partnerships. The amended plan incorporates additional parcels, increasing the project area from 1,415 acres to 1,575 acres, to address regional needs, particularly for affordable housing in Salina and strategic development in Manti, while ensuring long-term economic sustainability.
“The amended Skyline Corridor plan reflects our commitment to empowering Central Utah communities with the tools they need to thrive,” said Jenna Draper, Associate Vice President of Regional Project Area Development. “By collaborating with local leaders and focusing on strategic investments, we’re making way for a more resilient future.”
The project focuses on industries such as advanced manufacturing, logistics, and renewable energy, with performance indicators including job creation, infrastructure improvements, and increased capital investment. The amendment also includes a provision for tracking funds allocated by political subdivisions to ensure accountability and effectiveness in development efforts. With today’s approval, UIPA will move forward with implementation efforts to support regional growth.
“This expansion is a great opportunity for our communities,” said Salina City Major, Jed Maxwell. “The Skyline Corridor Project Area is opening doors for growth and prosperity in ways we’ve never seen before.”
