Landowners:
What does it mean to
be in a project area?

What is a project area?
A project area is a tool designed to support planned growth in partnership with local communities. Our vision is to attract investment, create jobs, and promote economic growth for your city or county. By working together, we can ensure thoughtful development rather than uncoordinated, piecemeal expansion—helping your community grow with guidance and foresight.
What a Project Area Doesn’t Do
- Does not increase your property taxes
- Does not change zoning
- Does not compel land use
- Does not alter your rights as a property owner
Your rights as a landowner
As a landowner in a UIPA project area, your property rights remain fully intact.
1
Zoning authority stays with your county or municipality
2
Permitting remains under your control
3
Property taxes do not increase as a result of the project area designation

Contact your elected officials to better understand how zoning aligns with the growth objectives for your community.
