The Utah Inland Port Authority is fully engaged with and is anticipating participation in the Clean Ports Grant opportunities recently made available by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) under the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022.
With a generous funding provision of $3 billion aimed at fostering zero-emission port equipment and infrastructure, alongside initiatives for climate and air quality planning at U.S. ports, we see a significant opportunity to align our operations with these forward-thinking goals.
Our focus will be on exploring avenues for deploying zero-emission technology and infrastructure, such as electric charging and hydrogen fueling for port equipment, which are directly in line with the EPA’s objectives of port transformation, pollution reduction, and support for environmental justice in disadvantaged communities.
We are currently assessing the best strategies to apply for this funding in a manner that will maximize our contribution to cleaner air and a more sustainable future.
Further details on our application and planned projects will be shared as we move forward with this exciting opportunity.
