UIPA Welcomes Sebastian Abril as Director of Air Freight Strategy and Development

The Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) announced the appointment of Sebastian Abril as the Director of Air Freight Strategy and Development. With a decade of experience in logistics and air cargo, Sebastian brings a wealth of knowledge and leadership that will further advance UIPA’s strategic initiatives in air freight logistics.

Sebastian’s journey in logistics began in 2013 at Interlink Forwarding, where he quickly rose to become the company’s Compliance Manager. At Interlink, he played a critical role in implementing CargoWise as the primary Transportation Management System (TMS) and spearheaded the launch of a sister company, Synergy Warehouse & Distribution, in Doral, FL. His leadership and strategic planning were instrumental in making Synergy operational within two months, ultimately leading to the successful acquisition of both Interlink and Synergy in 2018.

In 2017, Sebastian returned to Utah and joined DHL Global Forwarding as an Air Export Agent, just as the company was re-opening its Salt Lake City facility. Within 11 months, he was promoted to Air Freight Manager, where he established local procedures, built relationships with air carriers, and trained teams across Air Imports and Exports. During the global pandemic, Sebastian’s leadership as Station Manager ensured that the Salt Lake City station was one of the most prepared in the western region, setting a standard for resilience and operational continuity.

“Sebastian’s proven track record in air freight and logistics is exactly what we need to elevate our air freight strategy to the next level,” said Allen Evans, UIPA’s Executive Vice President of Logistics. “His experience and vision align perfectly with our goals at UIPA, and we’re excited to have him on board as we continue to expand Utah’s role in global logistics.”

Sebastian’s expertise extends beyond logistics. His entrepreneurial spirit has driven the successful expansion of Presotea, an international Taiwanese bubble tea franchise, within the United States. His strategic mindset and practical insights, particularly within the Salt Lake market, position him as a forward-thinking leader who anticipates industry trends and implements effective strategies.

As he steps into his role at UIPA, Sebastian is poised to drive innovation and excellence in air freight logistics, contributing to UIPA’s mission of optimizing Utah’s transportation and logistics infrastructure.

The Utah Inland Port Authority is excited to welcome Sebastian Abril and looks forward to his leadership in advancing Utah’s air freight capabilities.
