Castle Country

The Castle Country Project Area is aimed at enhancing the economic landscape of Carbon and Emery Counties through strategic infrastructure and sustainable development.

This new project area encompasses 2,185 acres across both counties and is designed to leverage the underutilized rail and logistic assets to stimulate substantial economic growth. The plan includes a comprehensive strategy for development that aligns with the state’s goals of fostering high-quality job creation and environmental sustainability.

Milestones

Resolutions were passed on the following dates:

Carbon County passed a resolution on September 6, 2023
Emery County passed a resolution on March 5, 2024
Green River City passed a resolution on April 9, 2024

On April 23, 2026 during a public board meeting, the UIPA board approved Amendment #2 of the Castle Country Project Area Plan & Budget
On January 6, 2025 during a public board meeting, the UIPA board approved Amendment #1 of the Castle Country Project Area Plan & Budget.
Original Castle County Project Area Plan & Budget, which was approved by the UIPA board during a public board meeting on June 24, 2024.

Incentives

Qualifying businesses may receive post-performance annual rebates of up to 30% of the Tax Differential received by the Utah Inland Port Authority, for up to 25 years.
